October 2014 Updates

31st Oct 14

October had a number of performance updates done to the core of Orbit. These updates will help future website deal better with the caching of JavaScript and CSS files used on each site. Typically these files get saved locally on a users machine for a set period of time. This saves on bandwidth and makes the browsing experience much faster. The downside to this is when an update is made to your website these CSS & JavaScript files can be out of date and functionality appears broken. All that is required is to clear your cache and the problem is resolved but it doesn't offer the best experience. This new update will allow us to tweak how templates are created to ensure that these files are always up to date.

We have also been busy on making a number of refinements to our eCommerce platform. We're really happy with how it has come along and look forward to rolling it out to the rest of our clients sites in the near future.

Here is a list of some of the other notable updates released this month:

  • TinyMCE
Updated spellchecker tool to use a new provider
  • Content Management System
Created new functions to aid with caching issues after updates have been applied to websites
  • Page Editing
Updated the help section in the navigation to open up a PDF document which covers the common questions in the page editor

If you have any questions on the future road map of Orbit, or have any support questions, please feel free to send them through via the support area once logged into the CMS.
