November 2016 Updates

30th Nov 16

With only a few weeks left before Christmas this will be our last major update for the year with December likely to only include minor revisions where needed. We've been very pleased with how well the beta testing of Orbit in SSL mode has gone and we have now formulated a roll out plan. As part of a larger upgrade transition process happening to the server, that many of our Orbit users are on, we have to decided to roll out the SSL upgrade at the same time as each website is transitioned. However, if anyone would like to be upgraded sooner rather than later then just let us know.

Our eCommerce module is upgrading nicely and is about 80% of the way there now. We're hoping to have it completed before the Christmas break and look to roll this out at the end of January - watch this space.

One final feature added to Orbit this month is the ability to use a dedicated SMTP account for any emails sent off the website. As security is constantly being increased to fight against spam it can make it difficult to guarantee emails are received successfully off the website with no authentication. There are SPF updates we apply to aid this but if you do have access to an SMTP account then this will also help quite a lot. Let us know if you're interested in taking advantage of this.

Here are some of the other noteworthy updates that have occurred over the last month:

Added a button to preview a draft posts before making them live

Team Module
Added in redirects for any disabled members that may have been indexed by search engines

Content Management System
Added support for SMTP accounts so that all emails sent can be done so via an authenticated account

If you have any questions on the future road map of Orbit, or have any support questions, please feel free to send them through via the support area once logged into the CMS.
