Orbit CMS

July 2015 Updates

29th Jul 15

The new Orbit interface has been live for a couple of months now and we have had some great feedback from our clients - especially it's fresh new look, and greater ease of use.

One thing that some of our clients are starting to use more and more often is the live support feature, located down the bottom left of the CMS. When this is blue you can instantly start chatting to one of our support staff. There is nothing worse than getting stuck trying to do something and wasting 1/2 an hour when a simple question to our support team will help resolve your problem in a matter of minutes. The live chat function also removes a lot of the initial analysis questions that our team usually has to ask, i.e. What browser are you using and what version is it? Are you on a PC or a Mac? etc.

In the coming months work will continue with the upgrade of the new Orbit theme to some of more frequently used modules. The next two modules under scrutiny are the Team Module and the Gallery Module. As part of the upgrade tasks to the Gallery Module, the removal of the Java applet which has caused a few hair-pulling exercises in the past for some of you will occur.

Here is the list of the most relevant updates for July:

Deleting a featured image will now no longer automatically pull it again from the post.

Displaying sidebar items can now be further customised per instance.

Image Slideshow
Improved support for pages loading in secure mode.

Database Library
Improved connection stability for when accessing multiple databases at the same time.

jQuery - Validator
Improved support for optional fields and displaying of error messages.

Page Layouts Module
Full release including new improved editing within the page editor, drag and drop of each layout option, and an interface for creating new layouts.

If you have any questions on the future road map of Orbit, or have any support questions, please feel free to send them through via the support area once logged into the CMS.
