Orbit CMS

December/January 2015 Updates

26th Jan 15

With Christmas and the New Year over and done with, we are excited that the new Orbit interface has reached its first beta! We had a big push over December and the early weeks of January to get it to this stage.

The new interface will first be rolled out to a select few websites and tested further. Once satisfied that everything is working as it should and that any existing custom code on the client's websites is functioning appropriately, we will commence rolling out this update. As mentioned previously, this update provides a slick new interface and a focus on responsiveness meaning it will work better on smaller tablets and iPads.

Recently we have moved our Orbit support mechanism into Zendesk. Zendesk is a fantastic support platform and allows us to spend more time on Orbit development instead of supporting our legacy support tool.

In the coming new version of Orbit, real time support will be an integrated feature - so if you get stuck trying to do something in the CMS you can instantly get a hold of us to ask a question!

Due to our development time going into the redesign of Orbit, we have only done a handful of updates to the existing branch of Orbit. A list of some of the more notable updates released over the past two months is provide below:

  • Blog
A fix for some comments being automatically published if an author was deleted from a post and no one was reassigned.

  • Google Maps
Added support for turning off the dragging of a map and disabling the scroll wheel on the map, which is useful for maps taking up the full width of a screen.

  • Image Slideshow
Added support for making galleries resize responsively depending on the screen size, and improved rendering of text area captions.

  • Social Media
Changed the URL for the authentication of the access token.

  • Page Layouts
An update to setting the width of layouts to 100% when being viewed inside the page editor.

If you have any questions on the future road map of Orbit, or have any support questions, please feel free to send them through via the support area once logged into the CMS.
