August & September 2016 Updates

28th Sep 16

This month’s blog covers a 6-week period of updates due to a significant update required to Orbit to work better with a new CDN we are trialling - Cloud Flare. Using a CDN for your website can significantly improve page loading times for your audience worldwide as your website resources will be delivered from a local server for the person visiting the site as opposed to having to get everything from the server your website is physically hosted on. Although you won’t notice any changes we want you to know that Orbit is continuously being future proofed for how the web is managed today.

There have been a number of updates going on across the board recently which has been great. We're also getting closer to being able to switch on SSL for the entire Orbit administration area. We're going to be looking at beta testing a couple of sites in October and, all going well, we can start to look at rolling it out to others after that. If you're interested at all then please get in touch and we'll see if your website can qualify for the beta testing group.

Here are some of the other noteworthy updates that have occurred over the last month:

Page Editing
Extended valid elements for link rel tags - aids with some gallery functionality

Real Estate
Added interface elements to track which properties are setup to expire. Improved redirects for listings that are no longer live. Other behind the scenes improvements.

Content Management System
Added additional security measures to blocking un-authorized access. Also improved the displaying of what pages are un-published in the page editor.

If you have any questions on the future road map of Orbit, or have any support questions, please feel free to send them through via the support area once logged into the CMS.
